What Are Ugg Boots Made Of
Ugg boots are usually made from sheepskin with wool still on the skin…. Some higher-end Ugg boots are made from shearling, which is sheepskin with wool attached…. These are typically called 100% shearling or genuine shearling.
The boots are typically made in Australia from sheepskin but are also made elsewhere using sheepskin imported from Australia…. The sheepskin is tanned using a process known as tanning, which preserves the fleece’s softness and insulates the wearer’s feet.
Sheepskin consists of two layers:
1) the outer layer, which is the leather; and
2) the inner layer, which is the fur fleece that will become the lining of the boot.
The leather layer is tanned to prevent water absorption and to preserve its structure…. The skin is then turned inside out so that the wool side remains on the inside of the shoe, and is lined with suede or other fabrics to ensure a soft lining for your feet….
